If you’ve ever wanted to get married at a castle on the lake wedding, look no further than Belhurst Castle in Geneva, NY! This is the wedding venue that Mike and Roberta fell in love with, even though it’s almost four hours from where they live!
Bridal Details and Getting Ready
I’m always looking for new spots to hang the wedding dress and I found this spot just outside the Meritage Ballroom!
Here are some of Roberta’s “wedding details” and her AMAZING diamond engagement ring
Roberta in her wedding dress in the Tower Suite at Belhurst! It was so fun to watch her bridesmaid’s reaction to seeing her dress for the first time! Only Roberta’s mom had seen it before the wedding day!
Emily might shoot me (pun intended) for that second picture there but I wanted to give her the shoutout she deserves! Months ago, I assumed that I would probably still be pregnant at Mike and Roberta’s wedding but knew there was the possibility that I could go into labor early. So I asked Emily of Emily Netti Photography if she’d be willing to shoot with us! I’m SO glad she came with us. Her help, support (and photos of course!) were exactly what we needed that day! There are a few of her photos on this blog and I want to give credit where credit is due! Thank you so much Emily for your help!
Bridal and Bridesmaids Portraits
After postponing their wedding a year, I was so thrilled for these two that they were actually able to hold their wedding. And the weather that day did not disappoint! I mean, it was HOT that day but it was so much better than rain!
One of the reasons Mike and Roberta wanted to have a castle on the lake wedding was to get a lot of their portraits with the castle in the background! We had to wait until later in the afternoon for the sun to be in a better spot in the sky but it was worth the wait!
The other reason they wanted to have a castle on the lake wedding was for, well, the lake! So that was the other important backdrop to their photos that they requested! I just love this fun bridesmaid’s picture!
This smile from Roberta!… just epic!
Groom and Groomsmen Portraits
Here are some of Mike’s “wedding details!” I don’t know the story behind his Avenger’s cuff links but I love them just the same!
Here’s Mike! He’s the other half of the most nice, thoughtful couples you’ll ever meet!
The Groomsmen!
Castle on the Lake Wedding Ceremony
Here are some of the wedding ceremony details captured by Emily!
The ceremony held on Belhurst Castle’s lawn!
I LOVE watching the groom’s face when he sees his bride for the first time!
Pure joy!
Unity Sand ceremony
I’m loving the lake in the background of this picture!… not to mention the expressions on their faces!
Now THAT was an epic dip kiss at the end of the ceremony!
Carmen and her staff at Belhurst Castle always have some bubbly ready for the bridal party after they’ve come back down the aisle! This was the perfect moment captured candidly!
Portraits at the Lake
A castle on the lake wedding? Yes please! I’ve shot at Belhurst Castle numerous times before but I’ve never quite captured this angle that gets both the castle AND the water in one shot! I was so excited about these bridal party pictures!
Roberta told me that she had worked with her seamstress to modify the train (or tail as Mike called it) of her dress. She said there had been a piece of fabric underneath the lace but Roberta asked her to remove it so the lace was transparent. I love how it looked when she spun in this picture!
This amazing angle was shot by Andrew!
I’d say that’s pretty impressive considering he was carrying our Little Kiwi AND shooting! Super dad!
This picture! Where’s my heart eyed emoji when I need it?!
The way Andrew framed the bride and groom with the boat and the docks gave this photos such a nautical feel… and I love it!
Perfecting their dip kiss!
Again, totally worth the wait until the sun was in the right spot in the sky to get pictures with Belhurst Castle in the background!
So romantic!
Castle on the Lake Wedding Reception
Here is Mike and Roberta’s sweetheart table! I just love the mason jar goblets in the background. Roberta said it was essential that her goblet had a lid on it so she didn’t spill. Sure enough, early in the evening someone bumped into her and had it not been for her lid, she would have spilled her drink all over herself!
These gorgeous cupcakes and cake were made by Kelsey at the Gingersnap Bakery! (Kelsey, I hope I spelled your name right!
Introducing the new Mr. & Mrs.! Do you think they’re excited about it?!
The sweetest moment captured during the First Dance!
Cheers!
Oh my gosh, Andrew and I just love Mike and Roberta. Over the couple of years that we’ve met, we’ve gotten to know each other well through their engagement session, emails, and meetings especially working through their wedding postponement. Every time Roberta emailed she’d ask how Kiwi and I were doing! So when we were able to bring Kiwi to the wedding and Roberta was able to hold her, that just made my mom heart so full! People have said over and over to us that we are crazy for shooting weddings both three days and nine days post partum and they’re right. We are crazy. But its SO worth it for the AMAZING couples that turn into friends… just like Mike and Roberta. So. worth. it.
Reception Dancing
Mother daughter and Mother Son Dances!
Let’s get this party started!
Everybody cut loose, footloose, kick off your Sunday shoes!
To one of the best DJ’s we’ve ever worked with… Jose of Black Tie Entertainment is THE BEST! So fun, a great mixer and his emcee voice brings the energy!
Ok if you’re here at this blog post to answer the question I asked on Instagram, this is the collage you’re looking for! Based on these two pictures, what song do you think they’re dancing to? Tell me back over on Instagram!
These two… no personality at all (said in my most sarcastic voice!)
And their highly entertaining bouquet and garter toss!
We closed out the evening with a few pictures inside Belhurst Castle!
Mike and Roberta, we are SO glad we were able to be there for you guys on your wedding day! We felt just like we were a part of your circle of friends on your wedding day. Thank you for allowing us to be there!
