Audrey’s Quinceañera session was unforgettable, blending history, nature, and personal touches into a celebration of her turning 15.

Quinceañera Photos at the Sugar Mill Ruins in New Smyrna Beach, FL

I first met Audrey and her mom during a homeschool field trip with our school group. When her mom discovered I was a photographer, she mentioned that Audrey had recently turned 15.

While they opted out of a large Quinceañera celebration, they still wanted to mark the occasion with a photoshoot. What a wonderful idea!

Photos are a beautiful way to preserve memories, and Audrey’s session truly captured her sweet personality and this exciting chapter in her life.

We originally planned to do the entire session at Grayce K Barck Park in New Smyrna Beach, with its picturesque ocean views and sandy dunes. However, after I visited the historic Sugar Mill Ruins, I had a vision!

These ruins, once mistaken for a Spanish mission, have such a unique charm with their weathered stone walls and sunlight streaming through Spanish moss.

Splitting Audrey’s session between the ruins and the beach gave us a variety of stunning backdrops that made her photos even more memorable.

Audrey started the session in a casual outfit, complete with neutral tones and the cutest cowgirl boots—perfect for the natural setting of the ruins. She also brought along a special guest: her dog! This adorable pup, who has grown incredibly attached to Audrey, added such a personal and heartwarming touch to the photos. Capturing their bond was one of my favorite parts of the session.

Next, Audrey changed into her breathtaking Quinceañera dress. Her mom had searched for a gown that struck the perfect balance between youthful and sophisticated, and they absolutely nailed it.

The soft, flowing fabric was made for twirling and added a sense of elegance to every shot.

With her expertly curled hair catching the sunlight, Audrey looked radiant against the historic backdrop.

After wrapping up at the ruins, we headed to Grayce K Barck Park for a change of scenery.

The wooden walkway through the dunes was an idyllic spot, with the ocean breeze gently playing with Audrey’s hair and dress.

She even kicked off her shoes to dip her toes in the water as we finished the session by the ocean.

Those candid, barefoot moments by the shore were so authentic and joyful.
