When you choose a location that holds memories or meaning for your family, your photos aren’t just pretty — they tell a deeper story. That’s exactly what this sweet family did for their session, and it made all the difference.

They chose to have their family photos taken on their own family property, a place filled with years of get-togethers, parties, and countless memories. The fences stretched out across the land, live oak trees dripping in Spanish moss swayed in the breeze, cows grazed in the field next door, and that golden sunlight filtering through the moss made everything feel downright country magical. As an Orlando family photographer, I can tell you — setting plays a HUGE role in creating photos that you’ll want to frame and hang on every wall in your home!

And let’s talk about this adorable crew! Two boys and their little sister who calls them “her boys” — it doesn’t get sweeter than that.

All you have to say is, “Go get your boys!” and she’s off like a shot, arms flung wide, tackling them with the biggest smile on her face. It’s little moments like these that I love to capture as an Orlando family photographer — the real laughter, the real hugs, the real life.

I could also tell right away that Daddy is definitely a family favorite! The way the kids lit up around him and piled into his arms was absolutely precious.

Can I just say how much I love the country feel that came through in the kids’ individual portraits?

The cowboy boots, the long wooden fences, and the easygoing love for the outdoors — it all added up to a session that just felt like them.

Before we wrapped up the session, I made sure to grab some photos of just mom and dad. I always love sneaking these in, because after all, the family started with them!

And of course, the kids couldn’t resist sneaking in for a “sneak attack” hug session. Those turned out to be some of my favorite photos from the whole shoot. As an Orlando family photographer, seeing the pure joy in those moments is the best part of what I do.

What to Wear for Family Photos: Keep It Neutral and Natural

Another thing that made this session come together so beautifully was the outfits! Here’s a little family tip: when you’re planning what to wear, stick to neutrals as much as possible, and let one person bring in a pop of color.Also, try to choose outfits that match the vibe of your setting. Casual outfits for a country session? Perfect. Light dresses for a beach shoot? Absolutely. Meredith did such a fantastic job — the neutrals, the casual country style, and just a little pop of color made everything feel cohesive without being too matchy-matchy.
