Romantic Lake Louisa Engagement Photos | Josh & Emma

Engaged couple stand in the water near the sandy beach on Lake Louisa for their engagement photos in Clermont FL

Lake Hammond

Josh and Emma love the outdoors, so when they suggested doing Lake Louisa Engagement Photos in Clermont, FL, I could tell it was perfect for them. I had never been before, but as soon as I arrived, I was blown away by its size, the few hills (hills in Florida?!), and the number of lakes throughout the park. It was the perfect backdrop for a couple who feels most at home in nature.

We started their Lake Louisa engagement photos session at Lake Hammond, out on a covered dock surrounded by lily pads. The water was calm, the air was warm, and the light was dreamy.

These two first met watching football in a small sports bar in Tallahassee, FL. Emma was at Florida State, and Josh—who played baseball at FAMU—just so happened to be rooting against FSU that night. She whipped her head around and said, “What did you say? Do you know where you are right now?” And just like that, a conversation sparked that hasn’t stopped since.

Equestrian Area of Lake Louisa

On our way from Lake Hammond to Lake Louisa, we stopped near a horse trail with paddocks. This spot gave us room to play with motion: spinning, running,—Emma nailed them all with her background in gymnastics and cheerleading.

The rustic wooden fences, tall grasses, and golden light added so much variety and texture to their Lake Louisa Engagement Photos.

Sandy Path at Lake Louisa

They started dating early in 2024, and just got engaged this past May in a rose garden—the very same spot where Josh had first asked Emma to be his girlfriend. Their wedding is planned for next year at Whitewood Ranch, and after spending time with them for their Lake Louisa engagement photos, I can already tell it’s going to be such a meaningful day.

When we got to Lake Louisa, we followed a wide sandy path framed by tall trees draped in Spanish moss. On one side, the cypress trees and their knees rose from the lake, creating a view that felt a lot like the Everglades. The lighting here was pure magic and made these Lake Louisa engagement photos some of my favorites from the entire session.

Just look at Emma spin!

Emma had mentioned she loved the idea of standing in calm water, and this spot couldn’t have been more perfect.

Then came the moment Emma had been waiting for: stepping into the water at Lake Louisa.

Josh had come straight from work, and we had bumped their session up a couple of hours due to a stormy forecast. At first, the skies were clear, and I was worried we had moved it for nothing—but as we wrapped up, thunder rumbled in the distance, clouds rolled in, and lightning flashed just a few miles away. Timing really was everything.

This session is a reminder of why I love what I do—getting to tell love stories in beautiful places like this one.
