Baltimore Woods
Welcome to Jenny and Bryan’s winter Syracuse NY engagement pictures blog post! The engagement session that almost didn’t happen that day!
You see, Jenny and I were coordinating our schedules with her hair and makeup lady who ended up having to quarantine because she came in contact with someone who had Covid. Then the poor lady actually got sick so I think Jenny and I rescheduled… three? Four times? Anyways, we finally decided we’d shoot on a Saturday morning in February… no problem right?!
Before I go on with my story, can I just say how much I love that Bryan can make Jenny laugh like this in the pictures above?! It’s SO adorable!
And this fur shawl she brought?… totally changed the look of her outfit and was perfect for their winter Syracuse NY engagement pictures look!
Anyways, when the morning of their session arrived the winds were whipping at a crazy speed and it was raining. Ug. So I texted Jenny and said, “if you’re game, let’s wait it out until the afternoon and see if things clear up”.
Well!… did they EVER! The rain and the wind stopped, the clouds disappeared and the sun came out! After all that Jenny had been through trying to schedule their engagement session, I feel like it all worked out! And if you follow my work, you know that sunshine is my FAVORITE!!!
I didn’t used to love sunshine in photos. When I first started my business in 2013 I used to pray for cloudy days so that we didn’t have to run from shady spot to shady spot. But let me tell you, continuing education and classes that taught me how to use light have changed EVERYTHING! I am so grateful to have learned that because now I have the tools to capture that warm, sunny glow that I’ve always envisioned in my head before I even pull my camera out!
One of the things I just loved about Jenny’s outfit was the lace sleeves on her dress! Don’t they add so much style to her dress?!
The first location we shot at was Baltimore Woods! Jenny’s grandmother lived in Marcellus and Jenny has lots of sweet memories of the town, going to Olde Home Days and watching the parades go up and down the streets. So Jenny had requested that we find a location or two in/near Marcellus to do their winter Syracuse NY engagement pictures!
Marcellus Park
The second spot we shot at was Marcellus Park itself!
Probably my very favorite aspect of Marcellus Park is the river that runs through it! It is beautiful in the summer and it most certainly is beautiful in the winter as well! Just look at the scenery here!
Bryan and Jenny got engaged at Beaver Lake on Labor Day. It just so happens that they were hosting a family BBQ that day and Jenny had a fair amount of cleaning and prep to do that morning, so it threw her for a loop when Bryan asked her to go on a hike with him that morning.
She agreed but was hoping it would be a quick hike. As they walked around the lake, Bryan got down on one knee and asked her to marry him! He knew that she would want to announce their engagement to the whole family at the BBQ so he had it all planned out! Way to go Bryan!
They are planning their wedding for this October at Franklin Square Park and the Dinosaur BBQ!
And I am so looking forward to October and being able to capture all their sweet memories for them! Thank you so much for swinging by their winter Syracuse NY engagement pictures blog post! Be sure to follow me on Instagram to see all their sneak peeks from their wedding or shoot me an email, say hi and introduce yourself! I’d love to hear from you!
